El Grullense, located at 1024 E Pacheco Blvd in Los Banos, CA, has garnered a mix of reviews from diners, but the consensus leans towards it being a hidden gem for Mexican cuisine. Many customers rave about the mouthwatering burritos and tacos, particularly praising the Supreme burrito with chicken, hailed as "the best burrito I have had in years" by first-time visitor Lisa Crawford. Kelvin Aung also enjoyed the juicy cabeza tacos, complemented by the right amount of heat in the green salsa and crunchy zanahorias.
However, not all experiences align with the positive feedback. A contrasting review from Di Huang highlights concerns over portion sizes and the quality of the burritos, indicating a need for improvement. Despite this, the cozy atmosphere and friendly staff, as noted by Katherine Lawrence, provide a warm welcome, differing from other locations in the area. Overall, El Grullense offers an exciting dining experience with standout dishes that could satisfy cravings for authentic Mexican fare. The consistent praise for tasty, homemade-style tacos and burritos makes it a noteworthy stop for anyone in Los Banos.

I went through the drive thru, first time getting food from here. But what a fantastic surprise! I ordered the Supreme burrito, with chicken. No special requests. It was the best burrito I have had in years! Highly recommend this establishment just based on my first experience with them.

The place was silent and empty at about 5pm on a weekday. I ordered the cabeza tacos and they were juicy. The green salsa had the right level of heat. Served with a side of crunchy zanahorias. A simple dish perfected. Other places I think miss some components. The meat is too dry, the salsa is too watery or too little, or the garnish isn't tasty. Will definitely come back for different dishes. One of the best tacos I've had in LB. Edit: Tried the burritos and menudo also. Both packed with meat, seasoned perfectly. This is definitely a hidden gem for simple food in LB.

This location is Awesome! The people here are very nice! The other location across from Chevron station on Pacheco Blvd or Hwy 152, workers are not friendly, very rude! Maybe because I look more like my white Mama instead of my Mexican Papa? And my Mexican friend, she looks Italian instead of Mexican? Sad!

Don't waster your time, or your money here. This place is not only overpriced, but also way under value. The first and most significant complaint I had was the "regular" and the "super" burrito are the same size. The "regular" is a joke with mostly whole beans. The cook here must have been freaking out when he realized they'd dumped the entire salsa container in my burrito. Then the "super" which is not super by any means, other than the price. Yeah it comes with some extra versus the regular, but then it's a dribble of sour cream, a teeny, tiny bit of un-melted cheese, again, a ridiculous amount of filler-beans, and hardly any meat. And as if the first burrito took the kitchens' last gallon of red salsa, nope! Overpowering, overused in the next burrito. I ordered chips and salsa to go, and the chips were overcooked in old oil (I know this because the white corn chips were brown and burned). The principal of this visit and reason I'll never frequent any of these establishments- was ultimately the "salsa" part of my order, which was a 1 ounce cup of green sauce to go with my chips. When I asked for more, they wanted to charge me an additional 0.75 for each, when I had initially ordered a cup of salsa. But I get it, they were running low after they dumped the rest on my burritos. Won't be back. 5 stars for my paying, eating it and I didn't die of food poisoning. Buyer beware.

Their food is very good. The Super Nachos with Asada is my favorite dish here. The nachos do not travel well because of the chips getting soggy, so try and eat them as soon as possible.
